Hungarian entry requirements have changed due to Government Decree 81/2020. (1 April) on extraordinary measures relating to the state of danger declared for the protection of health and lives and for the restoration of national economy.

Government Decree 81/2020. (1 April) 

Based on the Government Decree as well as the respective Vienna Conventions on Diplomatic and Consular Relations, following persons are allowed to enter Hungary:

No entry is granted to non-EEA nationals, irrespective of holding a permanent residence permit.

Leniency application

Persons not falling under the above categories, including EEA nationals holding a registration certificate and a valid Hungarian address card and Hungarian nationals’ family members irrespective of holding a residence permit, are welcome to submit an online leniency application to XFwFPAGM20JdWd5ZmVsc3pvbGdhbGF0QG9yZmsucG9saWNlLmh1. Business entry for related undertakings

Hungarian nationals returning from a business trip from the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia as well as South Korea and Japan are not entitled to a home quarantine, provided that the returning person is the leader or employee of a company registered in Hungary or one of the above mentioned countries and operating as a related undertaking with any company registered in the above mentioned countires. Related undertakings are defined in Act LXXXI of 1996 on Corporate Tax and Dividend Tax Art 4 (23) at http://njt.hu/cgi_bin/njt_doc.cgi?docid=27087.370918. The business nature of the visit is to be presumed upon entry.

Furthermore, nationals of the Czech Republic, Poland, Germany, Austria, Slovakia as well as South Korea and Japan are allowed to enter without an individual exemption and without the obligation of a home quarantine, provided that they arrive to Hungary directly from their homeland and the purpose of their travel is business activity associated with a related undertaking. The business nature of the visit is to be presumed upon entry.
